American lifestyle guru Martha Stewart’s summer retreat is Skylands on Mount Desert Island in Maine in the U.S. The garden was designed by landscape architect Jens Jensen in the 1920s for Edsel & Eleanor Ford (yes, that Ford) and by the time Stewart bought it in 1997, it “had matured to an extent that the original intent had been lost.” She set about to correct that with the help of landscape architect Patrick Chassé & sees herself as a curator of a garden jewel.
